Mission

Every small to medium Canadian business, insured, so every team — and their families — has access to the healthcare they need.

  • Every business, insured.
  • Every team, covered.
  • Health is a human right.

Not an aspiration we put in a footer. A reason for a decision that costs us something.

WHAT THAT COMMITS US TO

The experience behind the Insider Read

5+ years inside Manulife, reading contract wording and seeing how claims language is applied.

HLVC is an independent brokerage and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Manulife.

If health is a right, margin is the thing in the way. The Insider Read brings that experience to the policy in front of you: reading contract wording, considering claims language, and comparing renewal terms without promising a particular outcome.

Every premium dollar a small to medium business pays splits two ways: care that reaches a person, and margin that funds something else. We can't change what care costs. We can go after the margin — and there are exactly two places to find it.

Ours. A brokerage that runs on AI has a lower cost of analysis. We don't need to sell your plan design down to make a small file worth working, so a twelve-person group gets the same forensic read as a two-hundred-person one.

Theirs. A not-for-profit carrier has no shareholder margin to fund in the first place. Bringing that quote to the table is the single most effective thing anyone can do to a renewal — and almost nobody does it, because it occasionally costs the broker.

We do it first. As policy. That is what the belief above actually means in practice.

THE WIN · WIN · WIN

Four parties. One number moving.

WIN · THE PERSON

Coverage stays intact. The benefit they were promised is the benefit they keep. No quiet trim to the paramedical maximum, no new cap on the drug card, no finding out at the front desk.

WIN · THE SMALL TO MEDIUM BUSINESS

Lower premium, same plan. Competition brings the price of identical coverage down — a number the owner feels every month and can defend to anyone who asks.

WIN · THE INSURER

They usually keep the group. A competing quote sharpens a number; it rarely loses a block. The incumbent retains the business and the relationship. Nobody has to lose for this to work.

WIN · THE COMMUNITY

Surplus goes somewhere useful. When a not-for-profit carrier does win, the margin that would have funded shareholders funds community health instead. GreenShield alone has committed $200 million to reaching three million more Canadians by 2030.

One party doesn't win: the incumbent brokerage. A Broker of Record transfer moves the file, and we won't pretend otherwise.

HOW WE GET THERE

Two foundations. One mission.

Foundation I —

Policy Value(AI)™

In-depth analysis tools help assess plan options and identify suitable insurers for small-to-medium businesses. The engine reads contracts, rate pages and de-identified census data — age band, province, class, volume. It never receives names, dates of birth, claims history, drug utilisation, diagnoses or disability files. Every output is reviewed by Harikaran Loganathan, Ontario Life Insurance Agent · FSRA Licence #26250965, before it reaches anyone.

The analysis focuses on plan wording and rate pages. Greater efficiency can help us work with a lower advisory margin, with potential client cost benefits where permitted and available; savings are not guaranteed. A licensed advisor checks each output and explains the terms before you act.

Foundation II —

Non-Profit First™

We take the not-for-profit carriers to market ahead of the for-profit incumbents — because health is a human right, not a luxury. When a plan doesn't have to fund shareholder profit, the same coverage can cost a small to medium business less. And when the incumbent answers that quote, the client wins either way.

COMMUNITY CARE

The mission doesn't stop at the policy.

If health is a right, it can't end at the businesses that already have a plan.

Meeting owners where they are.

Plain-language help understanding coverage and options — for owners, families and newcomers running small to medium businesses who have never had an advisor in their corner.

Open by default.

Everything we learn is published on the Advisor Hub with no gate and no employer code. The Insider Read is free to anyone who asks, client or not.

No team left uninsured.

Every engagement gets one question: does this move Canada closer to every small to medium business being covered? Cost is never the barrier to finding out where you stand.
