Policy Value(AI)™
Policy Value(AI)™ combines in-depth analysis tools with licensed-advisor review to assess plan options and approach suitable insurers, for Ontario group benefits plans of 10–200 employees.
- Policy Value(AI)™.
- Non-Profit First™.
- Licensed review on every file.
Efficient analysis can help us work with a lower advisory margin, with potential client cost benefits where permitted and available. Savings are not guaranteed.
Illustrative, not a quotation. Segment widths are conceptual and do not represent any specific plan, carrier or rate. Carrier type alone does not determine price or plan fit.
How a small file gets a big read.
Policy Value(AI)™
Policy Value(AI)™ tools support a thorough review at a more efficient cost of analysis. That can help us work with a lower advisory margin, with potential client cost benefits where permitted and available; savings are not guaranteed. Insurer pricing and underwriting remain separate.
Our AI never sees a plan member.
The scope, stated plainly
It reads contracts, rate pages and de-identified census data. No names, no claim histories, no health information — ever. What it produces is a pricing model. What reaches you is a licensed advisor's opinion.
| Age band | Province | Class | Volume | Name | Claims | Diagnosis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30–34 | ON | Class A | $64,000 | |||
| 45–49 | ON | Class A | $85,000 | |||
| 50–54 | ON | Class B | $52,500 | |||
| 60–64 | ON | Class B | $48,000 |
Shaded columns are never transmitted. Age band, province, class and volume are all a rating engine needs. The rest never leaves your file.
What it reads
- Booklet, contract, renewal letter
- Rate pages and pooling levels
- Census: age band, gender, province, class, volume
- Published carrier rate structures
What it never receives
- Member names, dates of birth, contact details
- Claims history or drug utilisation
- Diagnoses or any health information
- Disability or absence files
What a human does
- Verifies every comparison line by line
- Signs off before anything leaves the office
- Owns the recommendation on the record
- Answers you within 48 hours
Across the whole relationship, not just the quote
- Quoting
We assess your plan and approach suitable insurers when quoting makes sense; timing depends on the plan and available information.
- Communication
Employee-facing material is drafted from your actual plan design, so what staff read matches what they have.
- Service
Contract language is checked when a coverage question arises, with the plan wording in front of you.
- Renewal
Timing, rate history and relevant market movement inform the renewal conversation before the letter arrives.
The compliance perimeter
De-identified data handling under PIPEDA. Advice is provided through Harikaran Loganathan, Ontario Life Insurance Agent · FSRA Licence #26250965, who owns every output. No automated recommendation ever reaches a plan sponsor unreviewed — that human accountability is the standard the CCIR and CISRO Fair Treatment of Customers guidance is built around, and we designed to it before we were asked to.
Where the second price comes from.
Non-Profit First™
We quote the not-for-profit carriers first. Not because they always win — sometimes they don't — but because a carrier with no shareholders prices differently, and you deserve to see that number before anyone talks about trimming coverage.
A not-for-profit quote changes the whole table. When a carrier that prices from a different cost base quotes your plan, your incumbent has a number to answer. More often than not your existing carrier keeps the block — at a better number. Your members' coverage doesn't shrink. That is the entire point.
The not-for-profits aren't new. They're changing.
This is where most brokerages are still a step behind. Green Shield has been federally incorporated since the 1950s and Blue Cross has operated in Canada since the 1940s — nobody just arrived. What is new is their shape and their scale. GreenShield put $75 million into social-impact investment across the five years to 2025, reaching more than a million Canadians, and has committed $200 million to reach three million more by 2030. It is building an integrated care model — pharmacy, clinics, navigation — not simply paying claims. Medavie states plainly that it has no shareholders and reinvests its funds instead.
That is not a mission statement. It is where the Canadian market is going, and we are placing business on it now.
Who wins
Coverage stays intact. The benefit they were promised is the benefit they keep.
A lower premium without a reduction in plan design, and a renewal they can defend to their board.
Usually retains the group. Competitive pressure produces a sharper number, not a lost block.
A not-for-profit carrier reinvests surplus into community health rather than distributing it.
One party does not win: the incumbent brokerage. A Broker of Record transfer moves the file. We won't pretend otherwise.
What we learn, you get — whether you're a client or not
We stay in the room: carrier briefings, industry conferences and the working groups where plan design actually changes. The library is open to everyone. Members get the Partner Network free. Clients get the full Claims Desk.
The method
How the two sections above execute on a live file.
H · L · V · C
Four stages. The letters are the firm's initials, and they are also the order the work happens in.
- H
Health-Check
Your booklet, contract and renewal letter are read against the market. We identify where the plan is overpaying and where the design is quietly weaker than you think it is.
- L
Leverage
If a market comparison makes sense, we approach suitable insurers, considering eligible not-for-profit options first.
- V
Value
The not-for-profit numbers go back to your incumbent. Competition does the work. You see every quote, including the ones we didn't recommend.
- C
Coverage
Placement is the beginning, not the end. Contract interpretation, claims escalation and renewal monitoring continue for as long as we hold the file.
48-hour response.
Send us your renewal letter. We'll tell you what the market says.
This is the employer-side Insider Read. You get back HLVC My Coverage Map™ — one page, plain English, yours to keep.
You keep your broker until you decide otherwise. Nothing is signed, nothing is filed, and no carrier is contacted without your written instruction. If the review says you're priced correctly, we'll tell you that too — it happens, and it's worth knowing.
This is the employer-side Insider Read. You get back HLVC My Coverage Map™ — one page, plain English, yours to keep: every limit on the plan, what your people aren't using, where you sit against the Ontario benchmark, and what we'd do next. Whether or not you work with us.
The employer-side Insider Read is a licensed review of your plan and renewal letter. Policy Value(AI)™ supports the analysis, Non-Profit First™ is the quoting order, and HLVC My Coverage Map™ is the deliverable.
Do I have to fire my current broker to get a review?
No. A review costs you nothing and changes nothing. A Broker of Record transfer is a separate, written instruction that you give only if you decide the market told you something worth acting on. Plenty of reviews end with the client staying exactly where they are.
What does the AI actually see, and where does it go?
Plan documents, rate pages, and a census stripped to age band, gender, province, class and volume. No names, no claims, no health information. That data is processed for the purpose you gave it and handled under PIPEDA. If you'd like the scope in writing before you send anything, ask and we'll send it.
Who is actually giving me the advice?
A licensed advisor, named on the file, reviewing every output before it reaches you. The engine builds the comparison; a person is accountable for the recommendation. Credentials are at the bottom of this page.
How are you paid, and does quoting not-for-profit carriers cost me?
We're compensated by the carrier through standard commission, disclosed to you in writing before placement. Nothing you pay changes based on which carrier you choose. Ask us what we'd earn on each option and we'll tell you — that question should always get a straight answer.
Insurance Inducement Disclosure. Nothing on this page constitutes an inducement to purchase insurance. No rebate, reduction of premium, or other consideration not specified in the insurance contract is offered or provided. Any premium change results solely from carrier underwriting and market competition.

Common questions
What is a Broker of Record letter?
It is a written instruction from the employer naming the advisor who will service its insurance plan. Ask the carrier about its effective date and process.
Does changing brokers cancel our coverage?
A broker change is not the same as changing carriers or plan design. Confirm the effective date and administrative details with your carrier.
Do employees need to enrol again?
Ask the carrier and incoming broker what, if anything, employees must do. A broker appointment alone does not usually replace the group contract.
Can I compare options before signing?
Yes. Request a plan review first, including a comparison of the benefits and renewal terms that matter to your team.
